Queen Charlotte, which drops on Netflix today, follows the friendship between three of our favourite Bridgerton characters - Queen Charlotte (played by Golda Rosheuvel), Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh), and Lady Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell). Except this prequel has a twist, we watch them from a young age grow into the women they’re meant to be as we know them on the ton.

Enter stage right: a bunch of new faces to play the younger versions of our favourite bevvy of beauties. Here’s all the tea spilled directly from Lady Whistledown about these new faces, what they bring to the story, and where you’ve probably seen them before.

India Amarteifio plays Young Charlotte

Engaged to King George when she’s only seventeen, young Charlotte only meets the mad king on her wedding day! We watch her push back against the establishment in the palace who are rigid in their ways while also longing for her youth in Germany. You might have seen India Amarteifio in Sex Education, Doctor Who, and The Midwich Cuckoos.

Arsema Thomas plays Young Agatha Danbury

Young Agatha Danbury was betrothed to Lord Danbury when she was just a toddler, so she knows something about living for other people’s wishes rather than her own. Charlotte’s headstrong behaviour inspires her to believe that perhaps society on the ton can change. We watch her find her own voice while also offering advice to the young Charlotte. You might have seen Arsema Thomas, a relative newcomer, in the TV series One Touch and the movie Redeeming Love.

Connie Jenkins-Greig plays Young Violet Ledger

Described as “intelligent and precocious”, the young Violet Ledger (who will one day be Lady Bridgerton) also has a big heart. Connie Jenkins-Greig  has appeared in other TV series like Mr Selfridge and New Blood.

Michelle Fairley plays  Princess Augusta

Game of Thrones fans will definitely recognize Michelle Fairley, who played Lady Catelyn Stark in the George R.R. Martin series. In Queen Charlotte she plays Dowager Princess Augusta,  King George’s mother, who would prefer ton society stay as it is rather than desegregate.

Corey Mylchreest plays Young King George

In Queen Charlotte, King George hasn’t achieved his “madness” yet, as playwright Alan Bennet put it in his famous 1991 play and 1994 movie. Here, he’s young and mysterious, handsome and charismatic, but uses his royal status to keep his “demons” hidden. We see his demons coming to the surface though, and he’s forced to let Charlotte see his true self. You might have seen Corey Mylchreest play Adonis in The Sandman, but he’s a relative newcomer.
