In the mood for a show with a little intrigue, a lot of drama and a two-time Oscar winner in the leading role? Well then welcome to Alaska Daily, the dark and moody show that very well may become your next TV obsession.

The series is one of several new shows coming to CTV this fall. We're still getting a feel for the show but, we can already certainly say it seems like a mood. Read on to learn everything you need to know about this hourlong drama before it premieres October 6 at 10pm ET/PT on CTV, CTV.ca and the CTV app.

What is Alaska Daily about?

The series stars Hilary Swank as a character named Eileen Fitzgerald, a disgraced reporter who flees a high-profile New York life and joins a daily metro newspaper in Anchorage, Alaska. There, she hopes to solve mysterious disappearances, but quickly discovers the locals believe those who come to the state go missing on purpose in an effort to leave their pasts behind.

Is something more sinister going on in the beautiful state’s underbelly? Well that’s exactly what Eileen is trying to find out. And if her intuition is as spot-on as she believes it to be, it won’t take long for some clues to pop up.

Who else stars in Alaska Daily?

Swank is definitely captivating but even the best actors need great scene partners, right? Enter the equally stellar cast members behind this show. They include Jeff Perry as Stanley Cornik, Matt Malloy as Bob Young, Meredith Holzman as Claire Muncy, Grace Dove as Rosalind “Roz” Friendly, Pablo Castelblanco as Gabriel Martin, Ami Park as Jieun Park and Craig Frank as Austin Greene.

What kind of viewers will like Alaska Daily?

If you’re into shows with an overarching mystery, strong acting and plenty of twists and turns, we think this show is for you. It’s telling that CTV is putting it on the schedule right after Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday nights, but we’re also getting slight Big Sky vibes from this one.

Who’s involved behind-the-scenes?

If you’re wondering what kind of tone Alaska Daily might have, you should know it comes from the mind of Academy Award winner Tom McCarthy, who wrote and directed Spotlight. In Alaska Daily he’s joined by an executive producing team that includes Swank, Melissa Wells and Bert Salke, as well as Kyle Hopkins and Ryan Binkley of Anchorage Daily News. Peter Elkoff (The Resident) will be the showrunner.

Is there an Alaska Daily trailer?

We've only really got a teaser for this upcoming series. You'll just have to watch to find out more.
