If you thought Daenerys' death at the hands of Jon Snow marked the end of the Games of Thrones saga (we’re still shook, tbh), George R.R. Martin has some news for you. The time is coming for a new installment in the world of Westeros, Castle Black, and Viserions, and it’s called House of the Dragon.

We’ve known for a while that it’s based on author George R.R. Martin’s series, Fire and Blood, and that it’s set 200 years before the events of GoT. Finally, we know a bit more about the GoT prequel, including a premiere date, cast details, and where we can binge-watch it in Canada.

When does House of the Dragon premiere?

Mark it on your calendars and don’t schedule another thing for Sunday, August 21st, because that’s when House of the Dragon will finally premiere. And you thought the wait would just *ahem* drag-on and drag-on. *takes a bow*

Where can I watch House of the Dragon in Canada?

While the show is an HBO Original drama, Canadians won’t be left out in the cold. On August 21st, Canadians can watch simultaneously with our American counterparts on Crave, so when Twitter explodes with reaction posts (and it will), you won’t have to scream “No Spoilers!” into the void.

What is House of the Dragon about?

The series will focus on the House of Targaryen (Khaleesi fans rejoice), and will star Emma D'Arcy and Matt Smith as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Prince Daemon Targaryen, respectively.

Other cast details include Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, “The Sea Snake,” Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, and Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria.

Is George R. R. Martin involved in the new Game of Thrones spinoff?

George R.R. Martin serves as co-creator and executive producer on the show and revealed he's stoked to see the premiere episode. He wrote on his personal blog in February that after principal photography wrapped, he was really pleased with how things were shaping up.

"I have seen rough cuts of a few of [the episodes], and I'm loving them," he blogged. "Of course, a lot more work needs to be done. Special effects, colour timing, score, all the post production work. But the writing, the directing, the acting all look terrific."

What are people saying about House of the Dragon

The news has sent fans reeling on Twitter.

Right now, there is no concrete news about whether or not we will see our beloved dragons in the show, but considering the official poster shows what looks like a terrifyingly big dragon egg about to hatch, here’s hoping that Drogon and Viserion make an appearance or two.
