Fans of Sex And The City and its reboot And Just Like That might have had their hopes up after Peloton released an ad featuring Mr. Big actor Chris Noth, saying, “he’s not dead.” Well, there won’t be any resurrections here, and the character has truly been scrapped from the series for the foreseeable future. Reports coming out of New York reveal that Chris Noth had filmed a cameo appearance for the finale of AJLT, but it has been left on the cutting room floor after Noth was accused by multiple women of sexual assault.

The finale, which is set to air on Crave on February 3rd, was to feature Noth as Big, appearing to Carrie as she returns to Paris to scatter his ashes in the Seine off the Pont Des Arts. Longtime fans of the franchise will know that Carrie and Big had their most meaningful moment on that bridge in the SATC finale.

Sources close to AJLT have told TV Line that the creative team didn’t feel the footage shot with Noth for the finale was narratively important enough for them to keep. The scene was reportedly shot on location in Paris and the final cut of the episode was not locked in at the time the allegations came to light.

After the Big character died post-Peloton ride in the series premiere, two women who do not know each other came forward with eerily similar stories of sexual assault on the part of Noth, alleging that he used force and violence. The women had text messages to back up their claims. Noth denied the allegations, but he was still dropped from his regular gig on The Equalizer and by his talent agency.

After the first two reports were made public, a third woman came forward with another allegation of sexual assault, and then a fourth.

A few days ago, Rolling Stone published a deep dive into Noth’s seemingly predatory behaviour toward younger women around New York, saying he was a known “sleazy” figure.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristen Davis released a signed statement showing support for the women who have come forward with their stories of Noth.

“We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.” Parker, Nixon, and Davis not only star in AJLT, they also serve as executive producers.

Some SATC/AJLT Instagram fan accounts managed to find paparazzi footage of the Noth cameo appearance as it was being filmed, and it looks like it would have contained many hallmarks of the Big/Carrie love story, like a carriage ride, and an encounter in front of a fountain.

At press time, Noth has not made a statement regarding the decision to remove him from the finale.
