Cardi B is a rhythmic gymnastics ribbon assassin in latest 'Cardi Tries Things' with 'Insecure' star Amanda Seales

Seems like everyone is getting into the Olympic spirit right now, including Cardi B. In the latest installment of Cardi Tries Things, the performer tackles rhythmic gymnastics… and she’s actually kind of okay at it.

"I watch these Olympic gymnasts,” she says, “and I think that gymnastics would be a good sport for my daughter.”

Decked out in a bedazzled bodysuit and accompanied by Insecure’s Amanda Seales (a legit cartwheeling gymnastics veteran), Cardi hits the mat to test her skills at ribbon-wielding, club-flipping, ball-handling, and hoop-spinning — to varying degrees of success — all under the tutelage of Stasya Generalova, a member of the USA Rhythmic Gymnastics national team.

Generalova was excited to welcome her two new students, saying, "When I heard Cardi B and Amanda were coming to my class, I was beyond stoked, because I know Cardi B is a complete performer, she knows how to get the audience going, and you need that in rhythmic gymnastics," she said. "And Amanda's an ex-gymnast so I know she has tricks up her sleeve."

The moves and routines that Generalova demonstrated were definitely not made easier by the fact that Cardi is pregnant with her second child (and sporting two-inch-long nails). Still, she was a big hit with her fellow students, preteen gymnasts who good-naturedly schooled her at nearly every task.

Inspired by her daughter Kulture’s interest in the sport, Cardi did her best to lose herself in the rhythm of rhythmic gymnastics. It… didn’t quite work.

"I am not a flexible person, however, everything that I can't do I'm gonna make sure my daughter can do," she says. "Now that she turned 3, I'm gonna put her in gymnastics class. I just want her to be really flexible because being flexible always takes you a long way with everything."

Acknowledging that gymnastics is pain, Cardi decided that most of the events in the sport can be augmented by a decent outfit. Which is where the bejewelled leotards come in. If you can’t beat ‘em, distract ‘em with your blinged-out wardrobe, right?

In the end, the not-quite-Olympic-hopeful team of Seales and Cardi delivers a pretty decent presentation, beginning with Seales’ handspringing and ending with a ribbon routine that was actually kind of cute. Or at least we think it was… those leotards were pretty distracting
