Gwyneth Paltrow worries she ‘humiliated’ herself trying to help out on ‘Celebrity IUO’

Goop mastermind and Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow is known for the softer things in life: relaxing teas, comfy pillows, vagina candles. But she definitely got down and dirty on this week’s episode of Celebrity IOU, where she enlisted the help of Canadian Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott to transform her BFF assistant Kevin’s Hollywood condo.

Apparently, the romantic lead of Shakespeare In Love wasn’t just there to supervise. GP grabbed a sledgehammer, wielded a grinder, and went to town on renovating the space. She even came to the party wearing none other than a durable-looking Canadian tuxedo. Is this a nod to the Vancouver born-and-raise Scott twins? Or just a happy coincidence?  

“I know Gwyneth was afraid of the noise and she was a little outside her element,” Drew said as we watched Iron Man star rip apart kitchen cabinets and a stairwell banister, “but she did an amazing job and she was totally fine jumping in at whatever task we gave her.”

That’s the power of the Canadian tuxedo, fellas. Gwyneth even joked at one point that should she ever do another Marvel movie, her superhero power should be ripping out sinks before admitting that maybe that's not for her.

“I'm so not a badass,” she confessed. “I think I humiliated myself.”

Adding that the demo was actually a bit cathartic, she said, “Once you kind of get into it, it felt pretty good.”

Kevin, who was away on holiday, has been Gwyneth’s assistant for 11 years and they’ve grown to be best friends. “[He] has been an incredible constant in my life. I trust him with everything. He’s my right-hand man. He knows where all the bodies are buried,” she said. “At some point, we formed something that seems really deeper than colleagues. It really feels like family.”

Noting that she was nervous to renovate his “forever home” because “I don't fancy myself as an expert, I think I have good taste. Although I think everyone thinks that I have good taste,” Gwyneth admitted to the twins that she was hesitant to renovate at all, but the payoff was so worth it, with Kevin coming home and loving the new space.

“It’s pretty fantastic that you did this for me,” he swooned, telling the Scotts, “She is like a sister to me.”

The entire ordeal was worth it just to hear the Scott brothers ask Gwyneth “have you ever done any grinding?”
