Jeff Daniels hopped on Zoom real quick for the Golden Globes and people sure noticed

And yes, we know where Jason Sudeikis got his hoodie, but sorry, it's already sold out.

Jeff Daniels didn’t take home a Golden Globe on Sunday night (watch the full show on CTV now), despite being nominated for Best Actor in a Mini-Series for his gig as former FBI director James Comey in The Comey Rule (available now on Crave). But he definitely got people’s attention when he appeared virtually alongside the category’s other nominees during the live broadcast.

Right before Mark Ruffalo beat out Daniels, Bryan Cranston, Hugh Grant and Ethan Hawke for his work on Crave’s I Know This Much is True, the screen flashed to Daniels in what may be the most casual awards show appearance ever. Although the actor was clean shaven, he clearly decided not to go the route of some of his fellow thespians by dressing up in haute couture or Oscar de la Renta. Instead, he did what most people in their living rooms might do for a casual zoom call, and he donned a flannel shirt and appeared in a room with half a dozen doors. Naturally, the college dorm and spare bedroom jokes immediately started flooding in online.

Other fans were totally loving the casual vibe, and mused that Daniels might have been in the middle of a meal or perhaps winding down for the night.

Whatever the backstory to Daniels’ cool-dad look, it didn’t take long for him to start trending on Twitter. He wasn’t the only star who started to do so because of his Globes vibes though. Bill Murray also made plenty of fans’ nights when he appeared virtually in a Hawaiian shirt, martini in hand.

Murray was nominated on Sunday night for best supporting actor in a film (he starred in On The Rocks). Like Daniels, he ultimately lost when Daniel Kaluuya won the category for his role in Judas and the Black Messiah, but from the comments online it’s clear he—also just like Daniels—was winning for best vibes.

Someone else who easily won for best vibes, but who also got to take home a virtual trophy, was Jason Sudeikis. The Ted Lasso star won the Best Actor in a TV Comedy for his role as the title soccer coach, and he accepted the accolades while wearing a hoodie and looking extremely tired. In his defense, it was about 2:20 a.m. in England, where he’s currently shooting the second season of the show.

In case you were wondering (like we were), Ted -- er, we mean Jason -- revealed in the press room after his win that he was actually repping his sister's dance studio. Unfortunately, Jason's specific tie-dye hoodie was limited edition and now sold out, BUT the site is accepting email addresses for a waiting list should they decide to do another run.

In the year of 2021, let’s just call this the trifecta of actors setting a new standard of good vibes for awards shows. And hey, in this particular case, when you’re talking about a live show that’s half in-person bicoastally and half-online with shoddy internet connections, technical glitches, and about a zillion other things that can go wrong… well who wouldn’t want to take all the good vibes they can get?
