Bachelor Nation has a potential next Bachelorette after this week’s ‘The Bachelor’

Katie went from 'Dildo Girl' to feminist warrior real quick.

Last week on The Bachelor we saw an inkling of just how bad things could be when bullies align and gang up on one person. It was a factor in Sarah leaving, and after the entire house of women verbally attacked her, only Katie went and spoke to her privately to make sure she was okay before she left. This week, Katie is mad as hell at the herd mentality and she’s not going to take it anymore.

Monday night’s episode of The Bachelor started with the girls still talking smack about Sarah long after she had left. When Queen Victoria, who inexplicably is still there, thought she was being hilarious by sniping, “the trash took itself out,” Katie told her the knock that nonsense off.

“No I won’t stop Katie, I’ll do whatever the f**k I want” was not what a Queen would say, but Victoria said it anyway. Stay classy, San Diego.

Bernie Sanders is not impressed.

This led to a one-on-one confrontation between the two where we finally saw someone hold Victoria’s toxic feet to the fire for her constant noise. When Victoria tried to say that she was just expressing herself by calling Sarah trash, Katie wouldn’t let her get away with such a bold-faced lie, and told her so. Sorry Victoria, your freedom of speech rights aren’t being violated because someone calls you out for being a bully. If you heard constant applause at 8:15pm last night across town, it was all of Bachelor Nation giving Katie a standing O.

Bernie Sanders is not impressed.

But Katie’s noble defence of her fellow women didn’t end there. Throughout the episode, we saw the bullying creep back in and in more insidious ways. Before the first hour of the episode was up, the girls were shocked that right before the rose ceremony, five new women were introduced to Matt and into the house.

Bernie Sanders is not impressed.

The first to arrive was Brittany, whom Anna said she immediately recognized from Chicago, and that people had been sending her messages to warn her about the new arrival. Somehow that got spun into “Brittany is an escort,” a rumour that Anna purposefully spread throughout the house, much to Victoria’s delight, and also then asked Brittany to defend herself against the accusation.

First of all, as Bachelor Nation rightly pointed out, sex work is work and deserves respect. Secondly, this bullying, sabotaging, and toxic behaviour is now playing with people’s lives and livelihoods, making it almost criminal on the part of the producers to allow this.

Victoria also continued her rampage by literally taking the pageant crown off of the head of new arrival Catalina. Like, oh no you didn’t just lay your hands on her, Victoria! We cannot bear to watch much more.

Bernie Sanders is not impressed.

Once again, Katie to the rescue. After hearing the nasty escort rumours and witnessing the girls going on about the new arrivals in such a gross manner, she pulled Matt aside as he was talking to producers, and told him everything.

“It would probably be a good time to address some of the bullying that's kind of been happening in the house and it's hard for me to keep trying to stand up for these women when we have this like mob mentality right now,” Katie told Matt.

“I've tried my best to stand up, you know, being the devil's advocate when things are being discussed,” she said in a confessional to the camera, “and it just isn't really working but Matt, he doesn't know anything about it, and I think he'd be pretty shocked to hear the things that they're saying.”

As far as Bachelor Nation is concerned, we have ourselves a new contender for the next Bachelorette.

From what we can tell from next week’s preview, Matt starts an investigation into the bullying and people are cracking left right and centre under the pressure. It looks like Anna, MJ, and Victoria have to face the music for things they’ve said, and yes, you guessed it, Bernie Sanders is not impressed.
