Allison Janney demolishing a house in an evening gown is how we're breaking into 2021

Allison Janney is the latest celebrity to appear on the Property Brothers' Celeb IOU series and the A-lister left quite the impression on the renovation specialists. In a year that has been largely void of red carpets, Janney made her own. Expertly pairing a form fitting, backless red gown with steel toed boots (she’s not an idiot), Janney proved that she can do anything, including wielding a sledgehammer while working her angles. Give Janney all the awards.

Janney appeared on Celeb IOU along with Drew and Jonathan Scott to help renovate the kitchen and dining room area for her close friend and personal assistant, Ilana. The pair have worked together for two decades and during Monday night’s show, Janney described their relationship more like family. "I feel like this is a wonderful opportunity for me to do something lovely for her,” said Janney. “She's just a giver and it's hard to make her receive."

The series, which is currently on its second season, features a different celebrity on each episode and gives them the opportunity to thank someone important in their life by giving their space a much needed upgrade. It’s sweet, fun, and thoughtful, but most importantly, Janney saying “Give me a sledgehammer and I will bust some sh-t up” is our new favourite quote of 2020.

Not only did Janney bust up some sh-t, she did it with style. Janney set the bar for demo day and ditched the typical flannel and jeans combo, showing up the Property Bros on their own show in the process. Wearing a chic ball gown to tear out cupboards in 2020? Mood af.

The only thing better than seeing Janney show up to demo day in a dress is the reaction to the living legend on Twitter.

For those of us who are breathing and therefore need more Janney than just a one-hour episode of Celeb IOU, the massively talented actor and all around very cool person recently returned to her starring role on the Chuck Lorre sitcom Mom. The eighth season of the beloved comedy returned in November, with Janney now leading the ensemble cast on her own following the departure of Anna Faris.

Showcasing her incredible versatility, Janney also recently showed off her dramatic side with a special reunion episode of The West Wing. The must-see reunion is now streaming on Crave.

The first season of Celeb IOU premiered in April and featured an impressive lineup of guests, including Brad Pitt, Melissa McCarthy, Viola Davis, Michael Buble, Jeremy Renner and Rebel Wilson. In addition to Janney, this season has included Jonathan Scott’s girlfriend Zooey Deschanel, Rainn Wilson, and This Is Us star Justin Hartley. What, no tux?
