As far as Black-ish actress Tracee Ellis Ross is concerned, Halloween is cancelled because she hates it, and she’s convinced you secretly do too. #HalloweenIsOverParty! Get it trending, fam! She has a whole host of well-thought-out, rational, and itemized reasons why, so she actually went in-studio to Jimmy Kimmel Live! (remember in-studio interviews?!) to chat with Jimmy about them. But it was in the process of tearing Halloween a new one that she suddenly remembered an old family anecdote.“Nobody likes to be scared or frightened, like ‘Boo!’ Why? That's how I came out!” she exclaimed, to a confused Jimmy. Cue Diana Ross’s “I’m Coming Out."
“I just remembered that my dad said ‘Boo!’ to my mom and her water broke!” Tracee explained. As the audience filled with Jimmy’s staffers gasped and Jimmy’s eyes widened with shock, she added, “I swear to god! I'm pretty sure that's the story!”ICYMI: Tracee’s mum is the iconic music legend Diana Ross. NBD.“Well this explains everything,” Jimmy said. “I didn’t know you were a ‘Boo’ baby!”“I’M A BOO BABY!” she hollered. And considering that Tracee’s birthday is actually October 29th, right before Halloween, that would definitely cause a lasting distaste for all things spooky. “I'm sorry, my mother said not to use the word ‘hate’ but I hate that holiday... she says ‘don't say hate!’”“She says ‘Stop in the Name of Love!’” Jimmy quipped.[video_embed id='2042610']RELATED: Sweatpants with heels – yay or nay? [/video_embed]As Tracee tells it, seeing as how her birthday is so close to the haunted holiday, that, “by about 14 years old I was Dunzville with Halloween! I’d had so many Halloween parties I dressed up as a witch, I was a punk rocker, I was a box of Crayola crayons!”All of this caused her to itemize her disdain with Halloween (and scary things in general). #1 People act “kooky weird awful.” #2 Candy. Ya gal Tracee can’t have sugar or coffee or any stimulants. “It's like I’m having an anxiety attack!” #3 She dresses up all the time and doesn’t need an annual occasion to be spectacular. Where’s the lie?To be quite frank, while some of the population uses the holiday to dress up in their most fabulous (or terrifying) attire, TER doesn't need an occasion to dress extravagantly. Can we take a moment to appreciate the extravagance of the outfit she was wearing (with matching mask, of course)? This is a VOLUMINOUS custom tux by LOEWE and we're absolutely swooning at the fit. No wonder Tracee's being honoured with the E! People's Choice Awards' Fashion Icon Award (Sunday, Nov. 15 at 9pET on E!).

While Jimmy agreed with TER's assessment of the spooky holiday, he had his own personal reasons for hating October 31st. “People get crazy, they get weird. Suddenly people are exposing themselves to you, and you're like, ‘oh we work together, this is uncomfortable.’” Jimmy, what kind of scary-ass Halloween parties are you going to?Watch E!
