Piecing together a wildly successful TV show about things that go bump in the night is no small task — but at this point, Ryan Murphy makes it look easy. Since its 2011 debut, anthology series American Horror Story has captured the interest of horror lovers around the world with each season taking on a new, and always terrifying concept.

Whether the story involves a haunted house, a coven of witches, a band of circus performers, or a cult, Murphy has the imagination to bring it to life with the help of an all-star cast. And now? An American Horror Story spin-off series is officially in the works.

Murphy took to Instagram on Monday to announce his latest project, American Horror Stories which will feature one-hour contained episodes, each dedicated to a different ghost story. He shared the news along with a screen capture from (a pretty epic) Zoom call with many of familiar faces from the AHS family, saying they "reminisced about the good times." He added, "It was so much fun and I'm glad we caught up. I miss everyone!" Same, Ryan.

Although details are still sparse, Murphy's picture seems to hint that viewers should expect to welcome back many of their favourite actors from the franchise, including Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, and more. And considering AHS has been nominated for an impressive 94 Primetime Emmy Awards over the course of its 9 seasons, fans likely have big expectations for Murphy's latest brain child.

This news also arrives just two months after the first peek at season 10 of AHS, which will see Macaulay Culkin joining the cast. Although the season was slated to run in the fall, it remains to be seen if the production shutdown amidst the pandemic will affect the premiere date.

Of course, that’s not all Murphy has on the go. As one of the busiest men in Hollywood at the moment, Murphy currently has a number of projects slated for release later this year, including The Boys in the Band, a a film adaptation of the 1968 play of the same name, and The Prom, a musical comedy starring Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman and James Corden, among others. The American Horror Stories news also comes hot on the tail of the release of his latest project, Hollywood, which hit Netflix earlier this month.

AHS veteran Sarah Paulson called is also teaming up with Murphy again for the upcoming series Ratched, in which Paulson will portray nurse Mildred Ratched, who served as the main antagonist in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.[video_embed id='1956557']BEFORE YOU GO: ‘Office’ cast recreates viral wedding dance for newlyweds[/video_embed]
