Captain Jean-Luc  Picard has been busy lately breaking all the Starfleet rules, running amok in the quadrant, invading Romulan territory, snooping through abandoned Borg cubes, and trying to solve the mystery of Lt. Cmd Data’s daughter on Star Trek: Picard. But he dropped everything Monday night to hop on Zoom to chat with his old Enterprise crew during the COVID-19 quarantine.  Everyone was there: Worf, Geordi, Riker, Dr. Crusher, Data, Counsellor Troi and even Wesley (no one told him to shut up though). Wait one sec . . . we’re being told these are characters, and the actors who play them have real names. We’re not convinced this isn’t a Q trick, but okay fine.[video_embed id='1888650']RELATED: Sir Patrick Stewart talks about returning to his most iconic role[/video_embed]It was Marina Sirtis’s (aka Troi) birthday so the cast of fan-favourite Star Trek: The Next Generation wished her a happy birthday via Zoom from the isolation of their own homes, and the reunion was screencapped by Sirtis and RT’d by most of the crew on Twitter. Sir Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Levar Burton, Brent Spiner, Michael Dorn, Gates McFadden and Wil Weaton beamed in the photo and we have to say, more than 30 years after ST:TNG aired, it’s great to see their #squadgoals are still going strong. “I have the best friends in the world,” she tweeted. “Considering everything, this was the best birthday present.” She then included the hashtag #TNGrules. Where’s the lie? ST: TNG was the best Star Trek series and we will have a phaser shoot-out with anyone who says otherwise.A few of the TNG besties have made cameos in the new Star Trek: Picard, including Brent Spiner (Data), Jonathan Frakes (Riker), and Sirtis herself, and seeing as how Picard has been renewed for a second season, we are keeping our fingers crossed for more cameos.
