So no one told us life was going to be this way. Just a month after announcing that, yes, the Friends reunion special is a go, it looks like production on the special is – wait for it – on a break.According to The Hollywood Reporter, production was set to begin on March 23rd with the original Central Perk set being pulled out of retirement just for the occasion. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Friends reunion special is just another show to be put on hold (amongst a sea of films, TV shows, and Broadway plays that have all gone dark during this global health crisis).[video_embed id='1924238']RELATED: Jennifer Aniston shares message of gratitude for hospital staff on Instagram[/video_embed]Naturally, we want the entire cast to stay safe (we *just* got Jennifer Aniston on Instagram after all), but from reports, it sounds like the reunion would have been kind of a big deal. Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc all had signed on to the unscripted reunion for a reported sum of between $2.5-$3 million, and show creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman were slotted to join the cast.Plus, they were all so pumped for it! Matthew Perry teased us all on Twitter that big things lay ahead, then Courtney Cox said she was “so excited” that it was all happening. And let’s not forget the ‘gram that broke the internet. But fear not, because for now it seems like production will pick up again in May, although an official start date could not be confirmed as everything in Hollywood right now is in flux. HBO Max, which was set to air the reunion, originally hoped the special would air with their official launch in May, but scheduling and global instability might mean this takes longer to reach our screens than originally planned. We’ll just be over here singing Smelly Cat to ourselves while we wait.[video_embed id='1924820']RELATED: These three things will make working from home a breeze[/video_embed]
