Tuesday’s episode of
The Voice (Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on CTV2) started off as a typical elimination episode, with coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Gwen Stefani anxiously awaiting to hear the fate of their team members. Sadly, it ended with the untimely elimination of bright light Myracle Holloway, but viewers found some solace with the iconic musical reunion between Eve and Gwen Stefani.While Tuesday had the usual mix of group and sudden-death performances, it also included a very special medley performance by Gwen to celebrate the 15th anniversary of
Love.Angel.Music.Baby., which also reunited Stefani with Eve. It blew our minds. Our Aughts dream of Stefani delivering a high energy anniversary performance of “Whatcha Waiting For” and “Hollaback Girl” was capped off with an appearance by Eve for their duet “Rich Girl.” Proving that she’s just as cool as she was in 2004, and 1994 for that matter, Stefani rocked a gold bodysuit with oversized blue sleeves while on stage next to the Ruff Ryders rapper, who apparently is drinking from the same fountain of youth as the No Doubt frontwoman. Seriously, what year is it?
Unfortunately for Stefani’s other half, Blake Shelton, his group performance was not an instant pop culture phenomenon. It’s difficult to believe that “Downtown Train” was the only song choice available for Team Blake, with poor Kat Hammock and her sweet whisper vocals left on the platform.
Team Legend had a much stronger showing, with Legend’s years spent arranging vocal choir in high school and college put to good use on Tuesday night. The coach expertly divided up “How Deep Is Your Love” among his teammates, crafting moments of beautiful harmony while also giving everyone’s voice the chance to shine. It was so, so pretty.
Tuesday’s episode also gave viewers an update on Season 17’s current frontrunner, with Jake Hoot once again the most-streamed artist on Apple Music for a second week in a row. Looks like Hoot could take the W.

Shane Q’s flub during
Monday’s performance of “Mercy” may have landed him in the bottom two, but his stellar performance of Labrinth’s “Jealous” was enough to clinch him the final spot in the Top 10. Shane’s performance on Tuesday night was his best of the season, with the singer finally delivering on the confidence that Coach Kelly Clarkson has been trying to instill in him from week one. It was also Kelly who used her time to comment on Shane’s performance to address both Shane and Myracle, chastising voters for putting both singers in the bottom, a placement Clarkson felt neither should be in. As usual, Kelly Clarkson was right.
ELIMINATED: MYRACLE HALLOWAY
Myracle did more than enough during Monday’s highly emotional performance of “Everybody Hurts” to make it to the next round and once again proved her worth on Tuesday, but sometimes the votes just aren’t there. That was the case with Tuesday’s elimination, with Myracle sent home after delivering pitch-perfect performances two nights in a row.
