“Coming of age” often alludes to braces, first kisses and puberty- but HBO’s newest hit show Mrs. Fletcher proves that the definition is much broader than teenage angst. The show stars Kathryn Hahn as Eve Fletcher, a divorcee who plunges in to a midlife crisis after her son Brendan goes off to college. Simultaneously, mother and son find themselves in situations that awaken their own sexuality and sense of self. In a story that can only be comedic, Eve meets a side of herself that she has never known; all while Brendan experiences a few unexpected introductions. The duo proves that coming of age really is for any age.Adapted from Tom Perrotta’s bestselling novel with the same name, Mrs. Fletcher received a preview screening at the Toronto International Film Festival.
