Donald Sutherland, Kiefer Sutherland, Demi Moore, Brian Cox

Tormented by a dark secret, an aging gunfighter (Kiefer Sutherland) abandons a life of killing and returns home, only to discover his mother has died. He’s forced to confront his estranged father and the life he left behind.

The Buzz

Bringing together two generations of Sutherlands, “Forsaken” will bring both Donald and Kiefer to Toronto for its world premiere.

And while both actors have quite the acting resumes, that didn’t stop them from feeling some nerves to work with each other.

“One of the sweetest things was I had called [Donald] the night before and I said, ‘I hope you have a great sleep, I’ll see you in the morning,’” Kiefer said of the experience. “There was a long beat and I said, ‘Just so you know, I’m really nervous.’ And he went, ‘Oh my God, thank God, me too.’ So we got to have that laugh and get that out of the way.”

Shot in Alberta in 2013, Kiefer’s been wanting the film to land at the festival since early 2014, when he told the Toronto Star it would be “the fantasy of all time” to see it have a TIFF premiere.
