Drake proves it still pays to be a 'Degrassi' alum (sort of)

Before he was Grammy-winning rapper Drake, he was Aubrey Graham -- a young actor who co-starred as high schooler Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi: The Next Generation.

The 30-year-old performer took to Instagram Monday to show he hasn't forgotten where he came from -- partially due to a reminder in the mail.

"Degrassi money still coming in don't sleeeeeeeep," Drake posted on Instagram, with a photo of a royal cheque for -- wait for it -- $8.25.

Drake appeared on the revival of the Canadian classic between 2001 and 2008. Part-way through his run, his character Jimmy was confined to a wheelchair following a school shooting.

More recently he showed off his on-screen comedy chops, as host of the first-ever NBA Awards.
