This Friday will see the release of a former chart-topping track by none other than Tina Turner — remixed and renewed by Norwegian music producer DJ Kygo. Get ready to dance like it’s 1984 again because ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’ is about to be your new (old) favourite song (again). Turner’s fifth solo album, Private Dancer, debuted in the mid-eighties and included the tune that would go on to be the singer’s most successful single. ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’ topped charts in the U.S., was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, and served as the title for filmmaker Brian Gibson’s acclaimed 1993 biographical movie about Turner (in which she was portrayed by none other than Anglea Bassett). But besides an infrequent public appearance or the odd low-key recording project, fans haven’t seen much of the retired Tina Turner since her 50th Anniversary Tour in 2008. That all changes this week when Kygo and Turner reveal the recently remixed track. From his Instagram post, we’d say he’s as excited as we are.
The producer is known for his faithful but innovative remix work, including a rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘Higher Love.’ That update put the 1986 song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2019. Turner fans can sign up to be among the first to hear her collaboration with Kygo here. The song will be available to both Spotify and Apple Music users.[video_embed id='1736487']RELATED: Kygo reflects on the importance of seeing people enjoy his music[/video_embed]
