The 2020 election has yielded another surprise collector’s item — and just in time for Halloween. Rocky Horror Picture Show fans, or fans of musician and comedic actor Jack Black, can now get their hands on some election-themed vinyl featuring Black as one half of Tenacious D. The record sees Black and bandmate Kyle Gass covering and updating the ‘Time Warp’ — that “step to the left/jump to the right” dance instructional song from the 1973 stage production, which became a cult classic film shortly after it was released in 1975.The movie starred Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon, and the ever-political Sarandon also makes an appearance in a video which Black released alongside the limited-edition record, proceeds from which will go towards various progressive political causes. A short-list of the celebrity cameos both on the record and in the video include Sarah Silverman, John Waters, George Takei, Phoebe Bridgers, Jamie Lee Curtis, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O, Ilana Glazer, Eric Andre, and Reggie Watts. Things get extra political when former Democratic candidates Elizabeth Warren and Pete Buttigieg pop up.[video_embed id='2064022']RELATED: Why Florida is such an important state in the U.S. presidential election[/video_embed]As you might have guessed, the updated song does not urge voters to “jump to the right,” suggesting that they instead make that jump to the left (and Democratic politics) while completely avoiding any and all rightward movement.Encouraging fans to “Rock-y the vote,” the video was clearly made with social distancing guidelines intact. That said, even the close, DIY recording quarters don’t diminish Black’s singular singing voice. Like, whoa.Watch the entire Frank N. Furter-tastic performance below.
