Queen of the B-sides Carly Rae Jepsen drops surprise album

British Columbia’s mega-star Carly Rae Jepsen surprised fans and music aficionados alike this morning when she dropped her latest album without much warning. Entitled, Dedicated Side B, the 12-track album is literally the B-sides to her last album, Dedicated, which came out May of last year. A full-length album to accompany a full-length album? This woman is a bop-making machine!Making the announcement directly to fans on her social media, Jepsen wrote, “So, yes there have been whispers and I'm bad at keeping secrets. Side B for DEDICATED is out now babies.” Acknowledging that the songs were all intended to for one album, she added on Instagram, “Sending you all my love and sharing dis damn side B I’ve been storing in my cheeks.”

CRJ had previously teased that something might be happening soon by sharing an animated video the day before the album drop featuring messages from fans asking her to release the B-sides from the 2019 album. Well, ask and thou shalt receive.This isn’t the first time the "Call Me Maybe" songstress has done something like this and dropped all the songs that didn't make it onto an album. She has previously said that she tends to bite off more than she can chew when it comes to songwriting. “I do overwrite!” she said last year when Dedicated was released. “Not unlike E•MO•TION, I wrote about 200 songs again and then narrowed them down to these 15 so yeah, I went a little crazy.”You know, Carly, that's totally fine with us.
