Barbz and Kittenz rejoice! Just a week after dropping the “Say So” remix, musical powerhouses Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj have reached the coveted number 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart, marking the first time either performer has hit the top spot, and only the sixth time that a female duo has ever hit this milestone since Billboard charts began 61 years ago.It may be hard to believe, but in the 10 years since Nicki first appeared on the charts in Lil Wayne’s hit, “Knockout,” Nicki had somehow never managed to reach the top spot. She has placed on the charts over 100 times however, and this milestone is complemented by the added bonus of Nicki breaking the record for the longest wait to hit number one. To add to the glory, the pair have even soared past Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” featuring the queen of all things divine and holy, Beyonce! That song rose from the number four spot to two, and Drake’s new single, “Pain 1993” featuring Playboi Carti debuted at number seven.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Nicki Minaj reportedly almost got scammed on her recent trip to China[/video_embed]Nicki obviously took to Twitter to thank all the Nicki and Doja Cat stans out there, lovingly dubbed “Barbz and Kittenz.” She also showed gratitude to Doja Cat (real name Amalaratna Zandile Dlamini) for thinking of her to take on the remix, and wondered aloud when she was going to show the world, uh, that which she promised. According to Billboard, only six other female collabs have ever hit the number one spot, including Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” feat. Charlie XCX in 2014, 2001’s “Lady Marmalade” with Christina Aguilera, Pink, Mya, and Lil’ Kim, and “The Boy is Mine” by Brandy and Monica in 1998.Elsewhere on the Hot 100 chart, Drake has surpassed Madonna for the most hits to place in the Top 10. “Pain 1993” is his 38th placement, topping Madonna’s 35. After Drake and Madonna, The Beatles (34), Rihanna (31) and Michael Jackson (30) round out the list of artists with the most Top 10 placements on the Hot 100 chart.Suffice it to say, Nicki Minaj and Doja Cat are keeping good company.[video_embed id='1956393']BEFORE YOU GO: Robot being used to help physical distancing efforts in Singapore[/video_embed]
