Fans were likely made aware of Megan the Stallion and Tory Lanez’s run in with the law Sunday morning and, well, let’s just say the story is still evolving. Based on reports from TMZ, it was believed that Lanez had been arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, while Megan (who was in the car) was listed as a victim and apparently taken to the hospital for a cut on her foot. But now Megan is using social media to set the record straight. The rapper took to Instagram Wednesday to tell fans that previous reports of the incident are “inaccurate.” In the post, she explained, “I’d like to set the record straight. On Sunday morning, I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.”
Megan continued, “I was never arrested, the police officers drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets. I'm incredibly grateful to be alive and that I'm expected to make a full recovery. But it was important for me to clarify the details about this traumatic night.” She also noted that she’s currently ‘focused on her recovery’ so she can return to life and making music as soon as possible. Witnesses apparently saw a group of people arguing in an SUV and, shortly after, shots were fired before the car took off. After catching up with the vehicle, police found a concealed weapon, prompting Lanez’s arrest. Learning now that Megan was, in fact, the victim of shots fired. Earlier today, TMZ released another report including video footage from the arrest, which showed police swarming the car before detaining everyone in the vehicle, including Megan, Tory, and another woman. In the video, a woman who looks like Megan exists the vehicle while a helicopter hovers above, and repeatedly states, “My hands are up.” Although TMZ noted that Tory was the only one arrested on a gun charge, they still thought Megan was taken to the hospital for a cut on her foot, rather than gunshot wounds. Writing to her fans in the caption of her post, Megan said, “I was never arrested. This whole experience was an eye opener and a blessing in disguise. I hate that it took this experience for me to learn how to protect my energy.” Fans have since flooded the comments with support, wishing the rapper a speedy recovery.[video_embed id='1995511']BEFORE YOU GO: Kanye West reportedly drops out of presidential race[/video_embed]
