Little monsters rejoice, a new Lady Gaga song leaked online

The world has been waiting for nearly three-and-a-half years for new studio music from Lady Gaga, so you'd be forgive for not keeping your “Poker Face” on over the news that the singer is finally giving us new music. And the best part is that it arrived even sooner than anyone expected.A few days ago we heard rumblings that the “Paparazzi” singer was releasing a new single in February, so when a 30-second clip of “Stupid Love” was leaked online on January 21, the internet lost its cool. And understandably so — the leaked track, which has since been pulled down from Twitter, is upbeat and high-energy, and has that pleasant throwback disco vibe of her earlier music. Anyone who still has “Shallow” in their head on repeat should be pleasantly surprised to be released from the deep end.

Some of the leaked lyrics also give that old-school Gaga vibe too. You know the one, where she sings about love but also self-empowerment and taking things for yourself: “You’re the one that I’ve been waiting for / Gotta quit this crying / Nobody’s gonna heal me if I don’t open the door / Kinda hard to believe (Gotta have faith in me).”Of course within hours of the leak Lady Gaga was trending on social media.

Obviously Gaga didn’t intend for the world to hear her new music so early (the leak came from fans who realized the words “Stupid Love” were hidden in source code on her website) but let’s be real: this is exactly the kind of unexpected publicity that sells even more albums. It’s also the snippet fans have been dying for ever since the singer announced plans for a new album via an Instagram story last September.Meanwhile, we’ll never take a Lady Gaga post at face value ever again. As some fans have now noticed, the artist totally teased “Stupid Love” on Halloween. If you look closely at this picture, there’s an iPhone beside the pumpkin playing the track.
