In addition to the album title, Michele also revealed the track list for Christmas In The City, which includes “White Christmas” with Darren Criss and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” with Jonathan Groff. Michele and Criss not only starred together on Glee, but also co-headlined the LM/DC Tour through the US and Europe in 2018. The tour featured the pair performing their own solo material, as well as duets, Broadway covers, and even songs from their time together on Glee.As for Michele and Groff, the longtime friends not only shared the stage on Glee but were also part of the original Broadway cast of Spring Awakening. “Jonathan is my best friend in the entire world, and the song we’re singing on the record, ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas,’ we’ve been singing together for over 10 years,” Michele told EW. “We would often have to do Christmas benefits and stuff like that in New York so that song in particular has very special meaning to us.”Lea Michele covers a handful of holiday classics on the new album, including “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “Silent Night,” “Silver Bells,” “O Holy Night,” and “Angels We Have Heard On High,” which is also a duet with Tony-winning Broadway singer Cynthia Erivo. And for the kiddies, Michele has covered the Frozen song “Do You Want To Build A Snowman.” Well, kiddies and parents, because they definitely know the words as well. The new album also includes the original song “Christmas In New York,” which Michele wrote as a love letter to her home. “It’s the anthem of the album, and it just highlights all of the special things New York has to offer,” Michele told People. “It paints this beautiful picture of New York, but it also is really about what it means to be with your family and friends and engaged in that holiday spirit.”Lea Michele first told fans about her plans for a Christmas album in June, sharing the very Carrie Bradshaw-esque announcement image. This past summer, Michele also revealed that she was starring opposite Bryan Greenberg in the Freeform original holiday film Same Time, Next Christmas. The made-for-TV film centres around Michele and Greenberg’s characters Gregg and Olivia, who meet at a Hawaiian resort during Christmas as children and reconnect years later as adults. Sparks fly, obstacles are put in place, and no matter how cynical we try to be we’ll probably end up loving it.Same Time, Next Christmas is being released in tandem with Lea Michele’s new Christmas album and will debut in December.
