Kelly Clarkson is having a moment. Not only does the pop music superstar and frequent awards show host have her own daytime television spot with The Kelly Clarkson Show and a spot on The Voice as a coach, she just announced her first-ever residency in Las Vegas. On April 1, 2020, Kelly Clarkson: Invincible will debut at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Las Vegas and Clarkson can't wait.“Not only am I getting to perform, I’m going to play all the Wheel of Fortune slots,” the singer joked while sharing the news on her talk show surrounded by show girls.“So who here likes Vegas?” Clarkson teased, breaking into laughter as members of the audience began to jump and scream in excitement. The announcement quickly reached Oprah-level proportions when Clarkson told the screaming crowd they’d each be receiving two tickets to her Vegas show plus dinner and accommodations at the luxury resort hotel. It’s not quite, “you get a car!” but if you're in the audience at a Kelly Clarkson show and scored free tickets to her Vegas show, it might even be better.
Clarkson joins the impressive ranks of other pop stars who've scored Vegas residencies including Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani and Britney Spears not to mention longtime Vegas queen and Canadian icon, Celine Dion. and the Zappos Theatre, where Clarkson will perform, has been home to headliners like Stefani, Shania Twain and Christina Aguilera. Illusionist Criss Angel currently performs in a different theatre at the same venue, presenting some interesting (and probably ill-advised) crossover opportunities. A little music and a little magic, anyone?Kelly Clarkson: Invincible is scheduled to run from April to September 2020. An initial run of 16 concert dates has been announced and will go on sale next week. Clarkson recently released her eighth studio album, The Meaning of Life, lent her voice to the UglyDolls movie as Moxy, has written two children’s books, won dozens of awards including three Grammys, and sold over 25 million records worldwide.Invincible sounds about right.
