Katy Perry is still basking in all of that newborn baby girl joy, and she’s continuing to spread that joy with a Smile. In the days leading up to last week’s August 28 release of her new album (aka her other baby), the 35-year-old dropped daily video instalments as part of her “Smile Video Series” on YouTube. Luckily for fans, she continued that streak this weekend with the video releases of “Tucked” and “Champagne Problems.”While “Tucked” is a comic-strip style video in which a heroine is in a relationship with a piece of broccoli (but fantasizes about the piece of candy next door), it’s “Champagne Problems” that has caught fans’ attention. Perry previously told People that the song is about her relationship with fiancé Orlando Bloom and their dark period in 2017 when they briefly broke up. That makes the song one of the juiciest tracks on the new album, but the video itself is tame when you compare it to the animated stylings of something like “Cry About It Later.”
To capture the essence of a song that personal, you could argue it makes sense that Perry would want to star in the video herself. And that’s exactly what she does in “Champagne Problems,” decked out like a disco queen with her slinky silvery dress and a Cleopatra-inspired crown. “Allllll weee goooot arre #ChampagneProblems nowwe,” Perry captioned an Instagram post announcing the video on August 30. “Listen to Champagne Problems to get your pre-baby body back,” she added in reference to the fact that she shot the video before she started showing with baby Daisy."It's a song that really talks about how intense it's gotten and how many things we have had to go through. Yes, we have problems. Everybody has challenges in a relationship," Perry told People about "Champagne Problems." "If it's a real relationship, it's going to challenge you into your best self. I really understand what Justin Timberlake said about, 'You're my mirror,' because it's true. They bring up all this stuff you can't really see about yourself."[video_embed id='2023769']RELATED: Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom welcome Daisy Dove[/video_embed]Perhaps that mirror reference is why Perry opted for the silvery visuals? She didn’t specify, but one thing is for sure, and that’s that fans are here for it. While some compared her to a queen, others felt some serious Emily Blunt vibes from the vid. So far KatyCats have streamed the video more than a million times; not too shabby for its first 24 hours. “Champagne Problems” is the latest visual Perry has shared with fans since giving birth, joining previous releases “Never Really Over,” “Harleys in Hawaii,” and the aforementioned “Cry About it Later” and “Tucked.” Will she pump out more content this week? That’s still TBD, but if she does it seems like fans will definitely be waiting.[video_embed id='2024083']RELATED: Katy Perry says her new album is all about resilience[/video_embed]
