It seems like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande were reading the self-isolation room, because the pop stars brightened their fans' feeds on May 1 by announcing their very first collaboration, “Stuck With U.” Naturally the song, which sounds like it will very much cover those feelings of being locked up in quarantine with that special someone (or maybe a not-so-special someone), isn’t just a result of the artists being creative, it’s also for a good cause. All proceeds from the song’s release will go to charity.Bieber and Grande both confirmed the news on social media after teasing a collaboration the day before. On their respective pages they shared a sketch by artist Liana Finck of a house and two people inside it sitting cross-legged. The singers' names are above the roof, while below the track title can be found. “Stuck With U by me and @justinbieber. May 8,” Grande wrote in her post. “Grateful to announce that my friend and i have partnered with @1strcf and @sb_projects on this release. proceeds from the streams and sales of #stuckwithu will be donated to first responders children’s foundation to fund grants and scholarships for children of healthcare workers, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics, police officers and firefighters serving at the front lines during the global pandemic.”
“Here is the announcement. Very excited because we have finally done it. And it’s really good. I’m releasing a new song #StuckwithU with my friend @ArianaGrande next Friday on May 8,” Bieber wrote in his own post. “Check back later today for the instrumental so you can be a part of this.”Naturally it didn’t take long for both posts to blow up—fans were waiting for about 20 hours after Bieber teased the news on Twitter and Grande retweeted it on April 30, leaving people everywhere speculating that the announcement would be a collaboration. Although it’s the first time the chart-toppers have done a song together, it seems like it was only a matter of time: both singers are repped by eternal Taytay enemy Scooter Braun. Since heading into self-isolation (Grande in Los Angeles where she’s been showing off some natural tresses; Bieber in Canada, where he’s been hanging out with wife Hailey), the singers have been keeping plenty busy making talk show appearances, sharing updates with fans on social media, and doing important things like jumping over lava floors. They’ve also both made fashion statements out of COVID-19 masks, donated generous sums to charities, and basically seem to be living their best lives.[video_embed id='1931550']RELATED: Ariana Grande shows off her naturally curly hair in self-isolation[/video_embed]This won’t be the first time the long-time friends have performed together. In 2016 Grande joined the “Love Yourself” singer onstage during his Purpose World Tour. Three years later, Bieber surprised everyone with an impromptu appearance during Grande’s Coachella festival performance in 2019, joining her onstage to sing “Sorry.” At the time, he said it was that appearance that gave him the confidence to perform live again after going through a dark time in his life.“I haven’t been onstage in like two years. I came out here and had no idea I was going to be on this stage tonight,” he said. “I wore this fly outfit not knowing that I was going to be onstage. I had to get my groove back, I had to get my swag back. Thank you so much Coachella, thank you so much to Ariana Grande. We love you so much. Thank you so much.”It certainly sounds like good musical things happen when these two get together, but fans will definitely be the judge of that when “Stuck With U” drops in a week.[video_embed id='1947065']Before you go: Bieber, Bublé, Lavigne and more put on memorable performance of 'Lean On Me'[/video_embed]
