At midnight, Drake released his latest music video for the new track “Laugh Now Cry Later,” which will likely act as the lead single from his upcoming sixth studio album. In addition to the new song and video, Drake also announced that his new album will be called Certified Lover Boy, although the rapper has yet to reveal a release date for the braggadocios record.Drake reunited with his “Sicko Mode” director Dave Meyers for “Laugh Now Cry Later,” which was filmed on location in Portland, Oregon at the Nike headquarters. The musician and Nike have never had an official sponsorship deal, but Drizzy is frequently photographed wearing the athletic brand and there are rumors of a possible Air Force 1 and OVO collaboration coming next year.Getting to act out every sports fans’ Supermarket Sweep dream, Drake takes a shopping spree through the Nike store in the new video while looking like he hit the lotto twice. Drizzy also shows off his athleticism in “Laugh Now Cry Later” by hitting some fly balls off the roof of the Nike building and making an impressive catch while on the field with Odell Beckham Jr. before taking a hit from Marshawn Lynch. The Raptors ambassador also goes one on one with Kevin Durant, giving the former Golden State Warrior an opportunity to dunk on the Grammy winner after a heated 2019 NBA final that saw Durant out in Game 5 after rupturing his Achilles. Drake has previously rapped about Durant on the track "Weston Road Flows," which includes the line "A lot of people just hit me up when my name is mentioned / Shout-out to KD, we relate, we get the same attention.”Lil Durk is featured on Drizzy’s new single and appears in the video for “Laugh Now Cry Later.” The men enjoy some time on jet skis and in golf carts, later posing in suits and showing their allegiance to their chosen basketball team. Lil Durk repped his hometown of Chicago by wearing a Bulls hat, while Drake sported a Toronto Raptors hat. Obvi. Drake also has a few moments in his feelings in the new video, giving the camera a close up of his Sinead O’Connor-worthy tears. Baby.
Fans likely won’t have to wait much longer to hear Certified Lover Boy in full. On April 30, Drake released the Dark Lane Demo Tapes, a 14-track mixtape that included the single “Toosie Slide” and featured appearances from Chris Brown, Future, Playboi Carti, Giveon, Young Thug, Fivio Foreign and Sosa Geek. “My brothers @oliverelkhatib @ovonoel put together a lot of the songs people have been asking for,” wrote Drake in the caption for the announcement for Dark Lane Demo Tapes, which helped the Toronto native snag an impressive six nominations at this year’s BET Awards. In the same Instagram post, Drake also confirmed that his follow-up to 2018’s Scorpion was coming soon, writing “Also my sixth studio album dropping summer 2020!”The prolific musician has continued releasing new music in-between the release of Dark Lane Demo Tapes and his upcoming studio album. Drake has jumped on the mic for features with DaBaby, Future, Lil Yachty and fellow Canadian Partynextdoor. Teaming up with DJ Khaled, the pair dropped “Popstar” and another one with “Greece” on July 17. Let’s hope Drizzy hasn’t played himself and left enough in the tank for a full-length album.[video_embed id='2007997']BEFORE YOU GO: Father and daughter dance duo is going viral[/video_embed]
