2020 seems to be the year of epic comebacks in the entertainment world. First came Mandy Moore, then the Pussycat Dolls, and now hot on their heels are the Dixie Chicks. After 14 (long) years, fans will finally get their hands on new material from the famous trio.Known for hard-hitting country ballads, with lyrics that play on repeat in your brain for days ("Cowboy Take Me Away," anyone?), the Dixie Chicks are officially teasing their first studio album since 2006's
Taking the Long Way. Titled
Gaslighter, the new record is
reportedly partially inspired by singer Natalie Maines' divorce from
Heroes actor Adrian Pasdar in 2017.And when we say ‘teasing’ their new album, we aren’t kidding. While the Dixie Chicks'
official Instagram has been busy posting snapshots of their recent music video shoot, Maines took it a step further and shared a short clip of their song (and presumably the title track) "Gaslighter."[video_embed id='1876450']RELATED: These are the most anticipated albums of 2020[/video_embed]Was this a PR-approved move? Well, hard to say, because the singer had removed the post by the following morning. Then, 3 hours later, a behind-the-scenes photo from the video shoot was posted, with the caption “Ha! Like it never happened ;)” before Maines re-shared the original video.Coincidence? Did Natalie jump the gun? Or was this a clever ploy to inspire even more fan chatter online?
Listen ladies, we haven’t (officially) heard from you since your feature on Taylor Swift’s “Soon You’ll Get Better” last year… please don’t play with our emotions here. We’re fragile… and impatient. But if one thing’s for certain, it’s this — fans are
ready for some Dixie Chicks in 2020.
And for the record, any video that features three of our favourite country stars sipping wine through a straw, while a dancer contorts his body to the beat of a heartbreak ballad, is worth the wait in our books.
DCX fans, hang in there… it looks like your patience will soon be rewarded.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Pit bull hears the harmonica for the first time, has totally epic response[/video_embed]
