It may be the middle of July, but Carrie Underwood is already in the Christmas spirit (literally). The country singer took to Twitter Monday to announce an upcoming Christmas album officially titled, My Gift, which will be ready for fans to unwrap (get it?) on September 25th. The announcement comes in the form of an album trailer, and fans may remember that the singer first teased the idea for a holiday album during a virtual fan club party earlier this summer. In the video, viewers see glimpses of Underwood in the recording studio and during photoshoots, while she shares her inspiration for the project. She also explains that her team has been learning to adapt to remote recording (via Zoom), due to the coronavirus pandemic.“I’ve always wanted to make a Christmas album and it’s been a long time coming. I knew this would be my next music project after wrapping my tour last year, and I think it’s turned out to be the perfect time for an album like this, in this period of such personal and spiritual reflection,” she explains. “For me, it’s more important than ever to focus on the true meaning of Christmas in a project like this. Even though it has been a tough year for all of us, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can be inspired by the most difficult times, and make us more grateful for the things we do have and for what truly matters.”[video_embed id='1998403']WATCH: Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel reportedly welcomed second baby[/video_embed]Although Underwood has released Christmas songs in the past, My Gift will be her first full-length holiday album. Oh, and she just so happens to be collaborating with some big names in the music business, including producer and writer Greg Wells, who has helped to produce tracks from the likes of Adele, Celine Dion, P!nk, and more. He also helped to arrange The Greatest Showman soundtrack, so safe to say Underwood is in good hands. My Gift will also feature a world-class orchestra led by David Campbell (who has recorded with artists from Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé) and "a combination of beloved traditional favourites celebrating her faith and the spiritual nature of the holiday, as well as original material," according to her website. The track list, along with guest artists and songwriters, will be released in the coming weeks. In the tweet accompanying the trailer, Underwood told fans, “I realize we’re in the middle of a summer heatwave, but I couldn’t wait to tell you… at long last, my very first Christmas album #MyGift is coming September 25! So much love has gone into this and I cannot wait to share it with you!” And well, let’s just say fans are pretty excited about the news. Thanks for the early Christmas present, Carrie.
