When you think of a summer concert festival, the Democratic National Convention isn’t usually the first thing to come to mind (or even the fiftieth), but if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we need to throw out the old rulebooks. This year, the DNC is going to play host to some of the biggest musical acts and performers in the world. We’re talking Billie Eilish, Common, Billy Porter, Jennifer Hudson, Maggie Rogers, John Legend, The Chicks and more. Eat your heart out, Coachella!“In just three days, we will kick off a Democratic National Convention that will look and feel very different than past conventions,” said Stephanie Cutter, the 2020 DNC program executive, in a statement on August 14. “It will truly be a convention across America, and these incredible artists will help us tell the story of where we are as a country today under Donald Trump’s failed leadership, and the promise of what we can and should be with Joe Biden as president. These artists are committed to engaging with, registering and mobilizing voters to get us over the finish line in November.”[video_embed id='2012532']RELATED: Hollywood reacts to Kamala Harris as Joe Biden’s running mate[/video_embed]Taking place virtually this year as a COVID-19 safety precaution, the DNC will run from August 17-20 and it's assumed that former VP and current Presidential candidate Joe Biden and his chosen running mate Senator Kamala Harris will accept the democratic nomination at the event. Everything from the American national anthem to standards, both classic and new, are expected as performances from the big-name musicians, which also includes Prince Royce and Stephen Stills. The first performance on Monday night will be the American national anthem, aka "Star-Spangled Banner," by a 57-member youth choir. Also expected to take the virtual stage are some of the Democratic party’s biggest political stars, like Sen. Bernie Sanders, former President Barack Obama and former FLOTUS Michelle Obama, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Raise your hand if you want Bernie Sanders, Barack Obama and AOC to join Billie Eilish in a rendition of, “Bad Guy.” *Raises all the hands*You’ll be able to watch the livestream of the multi-day hoopla from the DNC website and can check out the full lineup of performers and events right now.[video_embed id='2014282']Before you go: Chrissy Teigen and John Legend expecting 3rd child[/video_embed]
