The MTV Video Music Awards are notoriously known as one of music’s wildest nights! Remember Kanye crashing Taylor’s speech? How about Nicki Minaj’s “Miley what’s good?” moment? Or Beyonce’s 2011 pregnancy announcement?!
Well, Queen of the Barbz is back in 2022 to receive the (much deserved) MTV Video Vanguard Award and mark the occasion with a special performance. Other performers include Marshmello x Khalid, J Balvin, Anitta, and Panic! At The Disco.
Nicki will also co-emcee the show along with LL Cool J and Jack Harlow. What a stacked lineup!

LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow will co-emcee the MTV VMAs this year. According to MTV, this year’s ceremony will take a new and unique approach in contrast from the traditional “host” gig seen in previous years.
We don’t have word on the presenters yet, but we’ll learn more as the event gets closer.
The first two rounds of performers have been announced and the list is STACKED!
Blackpink, Lizzo, Jack Harlow, Måneskin, Marshmello x Khalid, J Balvin, Anitta, and Panic! At The Disco will all be hitting the stage with more performers to be announced as we get closer to the big night!
Honourees Nicki Minaj and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will also take the stage as they accept their moonmen.
None other than Nicki Minaj is being honoured with the 2022 MTV Video Vanguard Award. She'll also do an "epic performance" in honour of the occasion. We can only imagine what she's got planned!
Red Hot Chili Peppers will Receive Global Icon Award at the 2022 VMAs. The band will also take to the stage to perform new single “Tippa My Tongue” from the upcoming album Return of the Dream Canteen.
Lil Nas X, Kendrick Lamar, and Jack Harlow lead this year’s nominations with 7 nominations each.
Doja Cat takes the crown as the most nominated female artist this year, with 6 overall noms including Video Of The Year for her single, "Woman." Taylor Swift trails Doja with 5 nominations for her short film companion to ‘"All Too Well (10 Minute Version) Taylor’s Version," which also received a nom for Video Of The Year. Taylor also received a Best Direction nomination for her work directing All Too Well: The Short Film.
Canadian icons The Weeknd and Drake are also tied at 5 nominations, alongside Swift, Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, and Dua Lipa. An artist with a surprisingly low amount of nominations is Adele, who collected only 2 nominations (Song Of The Year for "Easy On Me" and Best Art Direction for "Oh My God") from her #1 album 30.
