Taylor Swift is showing the power of her fandom and making history. A new TikTok trend called Slow Zoom, which allows users to slowly zoom in on themselves while lip-synching to songs, caught Swift’s attention after her fans began using her 2015 single “Wildest Dreams” and got the song trending on social media.

Swift is just over two months away from re-releasing her fourth studio album Red but seemingly pulled a U-turn, pivoting towards her fifth studio album 1989 and the single “Wildest Dreams.” The singer hopped on the slow zoom bandwagon and surprised Swifties with the release of “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version).” Christmas in September? Ho ho heck yes.

Swift hinted at the surprise release early on September 17, posting a clip from “Wildest Dream (Taylor’s Version” on her TikTok account. The clip has racked up almost 1 million likes in only a few hours online.

“If you guys want to use my version of wildest dreams for the slow zoom trend, here it is!” wrote Swift, adding “Felt cute, might drop the whole song later.” Swift captioned the video with yet another nod to her fans that the full song would soon follow, writing “Someone said slow zoom makes you look like the main character I said make it Taylor’s Version pls.” Speaking on behalf of Swifties everywhere, we say thank you.

Swift quickly followed up the tease with the full release of “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” and began trending on all social media platforms.

The surprise release not only made every Swifties' day, but it also made history. The song immediately soared to the number one position on US iTunes, marking Swift’s 50th song to hit the top spot, a feat no other artist has achieved. This is something most musicians can only imagine in their…wildest dreams. Welp, there it is. Taylor Swift is magic. Well played, TS. Well played.

Swift announced the re-release of Red in June, telling fans that the new recordings of her famous tracks, including “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space” and “Bad Blood” would be arriving in a new disc on November 19. The album will be supersized and feature 30 songs from Swift, who will include all the tracks originally written for Red.

Swift has not announced a date for the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version), but if fans want to see two new albums drop by the end of the year, they may want to get busy on social media. Stay vigilant, Swifties.
