The Adele rumour mill is running at full speed this week, with talk of new music, new performances and a new video all popping up in Twitter theories surrounding the British singer. While none of the rumours have been confirmed, fans get such a small amount of intel out of the tightly guarded Adele camp that we can’t help but jump on any potential information on new Adele content. Our bodies are always ready.

First, there’s the new music rumour. Twitter is currently ablaze with a leaked track list from Adele’s highly anticipated fourth studio album. The list includes several features, including Beyonce, Elton John and Ariana Grande, which is our first hint that it’s a fake. Adele doesn’t do features.

Of course, if she decides to switch things up for her next album, we will buy a new empty smartphone just to fill it with an Adele/Beyonce song constantly on repeat. Obviously, a song of that caliber would cause a regular phone to immediately combust.

While the track list is most likely fake, the creativity of some Twitter followers is very real.

When there’s a new (fake) track list, there’s typically a new (fake) music video to accompany the lead single. Adele fans have pointed out that the singer’s makeup artist, Anthony H. Nguyen, shared a picture of himself on Instagram standing in front of a plant that is native to Canada.

This picture plays into another rumor that Adele is filming a music video in Canada, and while we do love a callback (the music video for 25’s lead single “Hello” was filmed in Quebec), the chatter around Adele in Canada is limited. Some accounts are reporting that Adele is reteaming with her “Hello” director Xavier Dolan, but again, nothing has been confirmed.

Another rumour centers around Adele filming a music video in Los Angeles, where she currently lives. That does seem more plausible since, you know, travel and COVID, but anyone working on an Adele project would likely not have such loose lips.

Then there’s the Super Bowl rumours, which began shortly after the NFL debuted their new promo featuring former Patriots player Tom Brady, who will be returning to New England on Sunday as a player for the Tampa Bay Bucaneers. The promo includes Adele’s “Hello” as the soundtrack, focusing on Brady’s ‘return from the other side.’ We don’t usually think of soaring ballads as a way to get people hyped for football Sunday, but an emotional return deserves an emotional sing-along.

In addition to feeling all the football feels, the new promo also has some fans wondering if this may be a foreshadowing of what’s to come when the Super Bowl rolls around in February. Adele playing the halftime show? We’ll jump on the football bandwagon for that.

Or, maybe this is the closest thing we’ll get to Adele at a halftime show. We can always dream.

Sure, maybe all these Adele rumors are false, but we will continue being on standby for when the real thing drops.
