Don’t worry about Jennifer Lopez. The multi-talented pop star has a new single, a new man, and a new outlook on the upside of independence. Following her split with Alex Rodriguez, J.Lo has dropped a sizzling new summer track that must be hitting A-Rod right where it hurts (in the headlines).

The Spanish language ‘Cambia El Paso’ features Jen singing about saying goodbye to an ex who did her wrong (we probably don’t need to remind anyone of the rumours of Rodriguez’s infidelity). The title translates to ‘Change The Step’ and has lyrics like "He doesn't deserve to have her in his arms / She knows it, she knows it / Your life is better now without him … You don't need anyone to be okay / She does not fail, she does not fail."

As if confirming that the song is about her split with Rodriguez, Lopez gave an interview on Pitbull’s Globalization last week, telling her host, “The song is about change and not being afraid to take the step. Like, just take the step, advance, do what you need to do. If something’s not feeling right, whatever it is in your life, like, just make that move and dance. Dance is life, and joy and happiness." The track will be included on her forthcoming album — her first Spanish record since 2007. An accompanying video will be released this Friday but Lopez has shared a sneak peek on her Insta already.

This week, in a subsequent chat with Zane Lowe, J.Lo got even more personal, opening up to fans about how she’s doing post-Rodriguez breakup. “I’m super happy. I know people are always wondering, ‘How are you? What’s going on? Are you okay?’ This is it. I’ve never been better,” she said on the Apple Music program.

“I want my people who care about me — because I care about them so much — to know that I’ve really gotten to a place in my life where I’m great on my own,” said Lopez. "I think once you get to that place, then amazing things happen to you that you never imagine in your life happening again,” she added while not once making reference to the way we’ve already dubbed this the Bennifer 2.0 era.

“I love all the love that’s coming my way right now and all of the good wishes,” she said. “And I just want everybody to know that it’s the best time. It’s the best time of my life.”
