T-Pain opened up about a dark time in his life that all started because of a comment from Usher about his music.

In a new clip for the CTV series (now available on Netflix), This Is Pop, the "Buy U A Drank" singer revealed that he fell into a four-year depression after Usher told him he "f**ked up music."

T-Pain said that they were on an airplane, going to the 2013 BET awards when Usher dropped the comment on him.

"We were all in first class and I went to sleep. I was awakened by the flight attendant and she said, 'Usher would like to talk to you in the back,' T-Pain said.

The 35-year-old singer said he got up and went back to see Usher, who started off with small talk but then hit him where it hurts.

"He was like, 'Man, I want to tell you, something man.' I was like 'What's good?' I thought he was about to tell me something real [because] he sounded real concerned. He was like, 'Man, you kind of f**ked up music,'" the "Church" rapper revealed. "I didn't understand. I thought he was joking at first, but then he was like, 'Yeah man you really  f**ked up music for real singers."

"I was like, What did I do? I came out and I used Auto-Tune," T-Pain shared. "He was like, 'Yeah, you f**ked it up.' I'm like, 'But I used it, I didn't tell everybody else to start using it."

T-Pain said he began asking himself questions like: "Is he right?" and "Did I f**k up music?"

"I don’t even think I realized this for a long time, but that’s the very moment that started a four-year depression for me,” the artist revealed.

T-Pain fans everywhere took to Twitter to stick up for the "Bartender" singer and criticize Usher for using Auto-Tune himself.

Others reminded everyone that T-Pain's voice is flawless with our without Auto-Tune. The man did win The Masked Singer after all.

This Is Pop is an eight-part series that explores untold stories from some pretty big names in the music industry. The series features interviews with Shania Twain, ABBA's Benny Andersson, Orville Peck, Brandi Carlile, Chuck D, Babyface, members of Boys II Men, the Backstreet Boys and more.

Usher hasn't responded to the new clip from This Is Pop as of this writing.
