Saweetie and Doja Cat release their fierce feminist ‘Best Friend’ music video

In the year of our Lord, 2021, we want to see more women hyping each other up and celebrating each other, and Saweetie and Doja Cat are really setting the tone with their new music video for their “Best Friend” collab. 

The video starts with our two besties lounging by the pool when a “fake woke misogynist” tries to shoot his shot with them. The BFFs can telepathically communicate with each other (naturally, of course), and totally tear him a new one by labelling his behaviour: “that kind of crass virtue signaling is nothing but a less overtly nefarious form of toxic masculinity.” Okay, we give it approximately 24 hours before that’s on a t-shirt.

Then we’re off to the races: the gals dress to the nines as they ride around in a bejeweled hot rod, hit up the club, and then strip down to their birthday suits to jump off a cliff hand-in-hand down to the surf below (which pokes fun at the old adage, “If your best friend jumped off a cliff…”). If our friendship isn’t like this, baby we don’t want it. 

Also, Saweetie twerks on the hood of a moving car. We can already see the TikToks attempting to recreate this iconic moment of magic (for the record, we're really not encouraging that).

The lyrics are all about women’s unity and overall confidence, which we love. “That's my best friend, she a real bad b***h / Drive her own car, she don't need no Lyft / In the strip club, know my girl gon' tip / Now she twerkin', she throw it out and come back in.”

This is the energy we need for 2021, and the internet will never be the same.
