Okay 2020, you’ve made your point. This year has kicked our butts, and we’re all hoping that 2021 will be better. Beyoncé’s protégés Chloe x Halle repurposed possibly the most fitting song from their Ungodly Hour album to ease us into the new year. They took to the Honda stage to deliver some epic lewks whilst singing, “Don’t Make It Harder On Me”—a title that should be made into bumper stickers and T-shirts.

It’s the vocals, the choreography, and the costumes for us. How are their voices so powerful? Are those melodies legal? It’s basically a crime at this point. The Bailey sisters have been performing consistently since quarantine began, like at the People’s Choice Awards, Global Citizen’s “One World Together At Home,” and the MTV VMAs, almost as if they love having us as captive audiences (though we’re definitely strapped to our seats willingly).

The sisters have been nominated for a few 2021 Grammys, and from this performance, it’s easy to see why. Their harmonies never miss, and this song just hits different what with us all hoping for a fresh start and new beginnings in the New Year. Also, hats off to their costume designer Zerina Akers. The girls are literally the vision you want to see when you arrive at the pearly gates. Do those vinyl bodysuits come in red? Asking for a friend who is us.

Stans are of course reeling from the killer performance, and we would places our bets that this song will be played tonight during the countdown as the ball drops (at least for some of us).

2020 may have been a dumpster fire, but Chloe x Halle never missed. They were one bright spot, serving up killer songs and iconic performances. We can’t wait to see how they grow and dominate in 2021!
