Justin Bieber is ending 2020 on stage, and fans around the world will get the best seat in the house. The Canadian popstar has announced his first concert in three years, a livestream event that will take place on New Year’s Eve. At least we can say that one good thing happened in 2020.

Bieber announced the concert on December 7 on his Instagram, writing “Doing a little something with @tmobile on 12.31.20.” In a statement about the upcoming live event, T-Mobile Presents New Year's Eve Live with Justin Bieber, the Grammy winner said he’s excited to provide a pandemic-friendly form of entertainment to close out the year. "I've worked with T-Mobile for a long time — they're such a fun brand, and we're working on more surprises to watch out for during this special night," said Bieber. "I can't wait to partner on this epic New Year's Eve concert with them, and give everyone a safe way to kick 2020 out the door, together."

While T-Mobile customers in the States will be able to sign up for the livestream concert for free, Canadians and other non-customers will have to visit www.JustinBieberNYE.com to purchase access for $33. The concert will be available starting December 31 at 7:15 p.m. PT/10:15 p.m. ET and can be streamed until the following day.

Bieber’s last concert was in 2017 during his Purpose World Tour. Launched in support of his fourth studio album, Purpose, the tour kicked off in Seattle in March 2016 and ended on July 2, 2017 in the UK. Bieber was scheduled to continue the tour throughout August and September, but canceled his remaining 14 shows in the US, Canada, Japan, China, the Philippines, and Singapore. Citing depression and exhaustion, Bieber had performed 141 shows by the time his tour ended and grossed over $257 million in ticket sales.

Since ending his Purpose Tour early, Bieber has been outspoken about his struggles with his mental health. In October, the singer released his track “Lonely,” which was written in part about his experience during his Purpose Tour. The deeply personal lyrics include Bieber reflecting on the rise and fall of his career and the isolating experience of becoming an international superstar while still a child.

In January, Bieber released his YouTube documentary series Seasons and spoke openly about his struggle with addiction and mental health. The following month, the singer dropped his fifth album, Changes, which acted as his follow-up to 2015’s Purpose. Bieber also announced a supporting tour starting in May, but it was canceled along with every other tour this year.

Even with the canceled tour, Bieber has still made several high-profile appearances in 2020. The singer returned to SNL to perform his singles “Lonely” and “Holy” featuring Chance the Rapper. In November, Bieber took the stage at the People’s Choice Awards, and made his debut appearance at the CMAs where he performed his pop-country collaboration “10,000 Hours” with country duo Dan+Shay.

Also in November, Bieber teamed up with fellow Canadian singer Shawn Mendes for the pair’s long-awaited collaboration “Monster” and performed together last month at the American Music Awards, where Bieber also performed “Lonely” and “Holy.”
