The 15th annual BET Hip Hop Awards aired on Tuesday night (on BET and MTV2) and the 2020 ceremony was full of star-studded performances.Female emcees Brandy, Erykah Badu, Teyana Taylor and H.E.R. freestyled over Brandy's 1994 hit, "I Wanna Be Down" for the empowering Ladies First cypher while Polo G, Rapsody, Chika, Jack Harlow, and Flawless Real Talk took over the political cypher at the 2020 Hip Hop Awards.Throughout the night, many artists used their performances to encourage their fans to vote for the upcoming U.S. election, including City Girls, Lil Baby, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne. Power couple Jhené Aiko and Big Sean turned up the heat with their steamy performance of their collaboration, "Body Language."Burna Boy and Chris Martin of Coldplay took the stage for a powerful performance of "Monsters You Made," and shined a light on police brutality and the #EndSARS movement.Snoop Dogg presented Master P with this year's I Am Hip Hop Award for his outstanding contribution to the hip-hop culture over his almost 30-year career. He said that his son Romeo inspires him because he "truly got a good start in life but never forgot where he came," adding that he knows his legacy is "in good hands."Pop Smoke was posthumously honoured with the Best New Hip Hop Artist and a performance by Migos rapper Quavo.
