Get out your low-rise jeans, throw on a cropped ribbed tank top and order anything but water, because Coyote Ugly is coming back. Tyra Banks has confirmed that a reboot is in the works and we are almost excited enough to jump up on our counter and start line dancing. Almost. It seems very dangerous.Banks appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show on October 7 and talked about a possible project based on the fan-favourite film. The model-turned-actor said she was supposed to be on a call with co-star Maria Bello on Wednesday, who played Coyote Ugly bar owner Liv in the film, but had to postpone the meeting to appear on Clarkson’s show. "I literally was supposed to be on a conference call today about bringing Coyote Ugly back,” said Banks after Clarkson expressed her love for the 2000 film.[video_embed id='2050317']RELATED: Tyra Banks takes to Instagram following 'DWTS' snafu[/video_embed]Banks said a possible reboot was in the works to introduce a new audience to the rowdy bar and revealed that the project could take place either on the big or small screen. "Yes, we are talking about trying to do Coyote Ugly 2 or a series," said Banks.Banks starred in Coyote Ugly as Zoe, one of the bartenders working at the unique New York bar. The film was led by Piper Perabo, who played Violet, an aspiring songwriter who leaves her home in New Jersey to chase her musical aspirations. Violet quickly finds herself broke and in need of a job where she can make money fast. Enter Coyote Ugly, with its high-energy bartenders, tough-as-nails owner and high-paying customers. Throw in a love story with Adam Garcia, a loving father played by John Goodman, and a performance by LeAnn Rimes and you’ve got the making of a cult classic film.During her audition for the film, Banks told Clarkson that she was asked to do a short dance, which turned into a full three-minute performance. “They asked me what song I wanted to play. I was like, ‘OK, I'll take Prince's “Kiss.” They were like, okay, just dance for a couple of seconds. They push play. I'm in this huge hotel room, all these casting people lined up looking at me. And I'm dancing. I'm head whipping,” said Banks, who ended up dancing to the entire song. "Then after I'm out of breath, and then they all just started laughing. They're like, ‘We are so sorry, but we were enjoying that so much, we kept the music going.'"
Banks’ time shooting the dance-heavy film acted as a good training ground for the model’s latest gig as the host of Dancing With the Stars. Banks joined the long-running competition series this season, replacing original host Tom Bergeron and becoming an Executive Producer. Banks has had a somewhat bumpy start, which included reading the wrong names when announcing the bottom three couples earlier this week. Thankfully, Banks appears to be taking her new gig in stride and told Clarkson that she’s hoping new host Derek Hough will choreograph her a short routine."I'm kind of tempted to ask him to choreograph like 16 counts for me to see if I can do it," said Banks. "I'm asking you now, Derek. Can you choreograph that for me?"This isn’t the first time Banks has tried to reboot Coyote Ugly. Back in 2018, she told EW that she was trying to get the film rights from producer Jerry Bruckheimer, adding that she would love to see a new cast that includes Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga and Meryl Streep.
