We all know Tom Cruise loves doing his own death-defying stunts; whether he’s gripping to the side of an airplane during takeoff, or jumping from the roof of one skyscraper to another (and breaking his ankle in the process), Maverick loves the rush of adrenaline and risky business. If you didn’t think it was possible for him to outdo himself (a Mission: Impossible, if you will), then fam, you don’t know Tom Cruise. Make sure to set your eyes to the (vanilla) skies in October of 2021 because that’s when Jerry Maguire himself will not only blast off into space, but also pop in to visit to the International Space Station. The Space Shuttle Almanac posted to Twitter on Monday the 21st a couple of infographics which detail the spacecrafts and countries that are scheduled to blast off into the heavens and beyond over the course of the next three years. If you look closely at the second photo, you will clearly see under the October 2021 timeline the spacecraft entitled “Space X Crew Dragon Axiom” which is listed as a tourist flight. Listed as crew are Space X pilot Michael López-Alegría, famed film director Doug Liman, and, yup, there’s Tom Cruise. Doug Liman, director of such action hits like The Bourne Identity and Mr. and Mrs. Smith, is attached to the project, but no studio as of press time has announced their attachment. Deadline reports that this is not going to be a Mission: Impossible film, but the actual film title and script have yet to be announced.NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine also confirmed via Twitter earlier this year that, yes, Tom Cruise will also make an appearance on the International Space Station and that parts of the movie will actually be filmed inside! Even though there have been tons of movies set in outer space, one of the major things they’ve all gotten wrong is that space is a vacuum, and therefore no sound travels (Y’know that big whoooosh sound the Enterprise makes as if goes into warp on Star Trek? Or the pew pew pew of their photon torpedoes? Yeah, that wouldn’t actually happen). So whatever shape this Tom Cruise/Space X/ NASA film takes, one thing is for certain – it will be the most realistic depiction of space ever seen in a Hollywood film. We cannot wait![video_embed id='2039679']BEFORE YOU GO: Artist goes viral by singing song in different accents.[/video_embed]
