The battle between Disney and Sony has ended and Spider-Man is swinging on to see another day. After it was announced this summer, that Disney, Marvel’s parent company, and Sony couldn’t come to an agreement over a new financing deal many were frightened that the MCU version of Spider-Man starring Tom Holland would be no more, and it was a bummer. But, with a plot twist worthy of M. Night Shyamalan, Disney and Sony have announced that Marvel is moving forward with one more Holland-led Spider-Man film after coming to a deal Thursday night. The studios have also reported that Spider-Man will also appear in another MCU movie.Back in August, Holland posted a picture on Instagram with Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. along with the caption, "We did it Mr Stark!" Did Tom know something we didn't?As you can imagine, Spider-Man co-stars Holland and Zendaya were especially thrilled by the news and shared their excited reactions on social media.
The MJ actress took to Twitter to post a *chef's kiss* perfect dancing Spidey GIF while Holland borrowed a Leonardo DiCaprio scene from 2013’s The Wolf of Wall Street to express his feelings.
The Marvel team seemed just as happy that everyone is playing nice."I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it," Marvel president Kevin Feige told Variety. "Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe."The partnership between Disney and Sony also allows Sony to continue with its own line-up of films based off of Spider-Man comics—including sequels Venom and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Sony’s slate of films will have nothing to do with the MCU, but in his press statement, Feige did hint that Holland's Spider-Man could potentially appear in Sony's Spider-Verse movies."[Spider-Man] also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold."Sounds promising.
