Long before everyone was hopping on Zoom to catch up with their besties, three-way (or four-way!) calls were the technology du jour. And Lindsay Lohan reminded fans everywhere of that recently when she and the rest of the Mean Girls cast recreated the 2004 film’s iconic four-way phone call scene.Following the Mean Girls cast’s virtual reunion, Lohan posted a clip featuring herself, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfried on Instagram. In it the foursome recreate the memorable phone call in which Lohan’s character Cady turns the tables around on Regina George (McAdams) after being thrown under the bus by her friend in the same way earlier in the movie.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Rachel McAdams' love for Canada runs deep[/video_embed]For the recreation, all four actors got back into their characters from the comfort of their own homes. The clip then splices between the actual film’s footage and the actors rereading the lines in the present day, achieving that perfect mix of nostalgia that gets fans more excited than a Spring Fling dance. It all kicks off with Cady calling Regina, with Gretchen (Chabert) secretly on the line. Cady then gets Regina to say bad things about Gretchen and Karen (Seyfried), and when Regina hangs up they call Karen to fill her in—just as Regina calls Karen on the other line. It all ends with Karen pretending to be sick so that she doesn’t have to hang out with Regina, and Regina calling her a whore. In the film that’s where the scene basically ends, but in this recreation the cast added an important card at the end: a reminder for Americans to vote on November 3.
Mean Girls Phone Call! Reunited,” Lohan wrote in her post. “Sign up for Katie Couric’s newsletter for more behind the scenes clips from the Mean Girls reunion (and for a summary of the day’s top news stories!)”Okay, so maybe it’s not the sequel that fans around the world have been calling for ever since the high school drama ended, but as the cast has said in the past, it seems like they’d all be up for making one. Think about it: 2024 would be the perfect time to release a potential Mean Girls 2: The High School Reunion, wouldn’t it? Because who wouldn’t want to see whether Regina George really did become a better person after pursuing Lacrosse, or if Karen’s ability to predict the weather really did change the meteorologist game. For now though fans will have to be happy with this limited content. Unless they still believe that the limit does not exist, in which case they’ll be wanting to write up original film scribe Tina Fey, immediately.[video_embed id='2030335']Before you go: Cat attempts daily hilarious attack on mail carrier[/video_embed]
