High school is complicated. So is witchcraft. At least, that’s what the 1996 supernatural horror film The Craft taught us. The cult classic (which you can stream for free right now on CTV) followed a group of four teen girls in high school who, rather quickly, learn that conjuring up spells and curses comes at a price.
For fans who first fell in love with the dramatic tale and its angsty coven of teenage witches, we have good news – the sequel is finally making its way to our living rooms. Originally slated for theatrical release, The Craft: Legacy will be made available on PVOD October 28, at midnight. That’s right, just in time for Halloween.
Even better, we finally have a first-look trailer to bring life to our predictions for the Blumhouse-produced film.
The trailer opens with the familiar chant, “Light as a feather, stiff as a board," while giving us a good look at the latest quartet of witches practicing a levitation spell (a skill they definitely didn’t learn in high school physics). The new cast includes Cailee Spaeny, Gideon Adlon, Lovie Simone, and Zoey Luna. Nicholas Galitzine, Michelle Monaghan and David Duchovny also star, while Zoe Lister-Jones serves at the head of the coven – er, we mean project – as writer and director.
Based on the trailer, fans can expect no shortage of “what’s up, witches?” puns, nods to teen movie cliches, and, of course, spells of both the innocent and sinister variety. The sequel seemingly follows the path of the first film, when Hannah (Spaeny) a shy, introverted witch-to-be, moves to Los Angeles when her mother (Monoghan) remarries. Welcomed into a new town, new household and new family, Hannah initially struggles to find her footing – that is, until she meets the local, teenage coven (Simone, Adlon and Luna).
The trailer also reveals a moment where Hannah comes across a picture of Nancy Downs (famously played by Fairuza Balk), who fans will remember as the original ‘big bad’ from the '90s movie. So, of course, this begs the question… will some of the original cast make an appearance in the remake?CAN'T EVEN EXPLAIN WHAT I FELT WHEN I SAW THIS IN THE CRAFT: LEGACY TRAILER pic.twitter.com/xoLDgTd7uV

It seems we’ll have to wait to find out, but in the meantime, fans are pretty excited. Who wouldn't want to see Neve Campbell, Rachel True, Robin Tunney, and Balk reunite onscreen?
