It’s May the 4th – or Star Wars Day, if you’re fluent – and whether you’re a diehard Star Wars fan, mildly keen, or just plain indifferent, there are plenty of ways to celebrate the intergalactic universe. Because who couldn’t do with a complete escape from reality right now?So whether you’re cracking out your faux lightsaber, donning full Chewy gear, or embracing the Dark Side, join us, for our top ways to celebrate Star Wars Day – and may the Force, as ever, be with you.

1. Escape reality with a good ol’ binge-watch

Even if you’re not into the whole sci-fi thing, who wouldn’t welcome a chance to escape to a galaxy far, far away? The Star Wars universe takes place in a universe with zero overlap with our own, currently rather chaotic, reality. And with many across the world finding themselves with more time on their hands, it’s the perfect opportunity to settle down for a good ol’ marathon, binge-watching session. With nine movies and plenty of spinoff material, it might just take you as long as this quarantine to get through the entire canon.

2. Have your very own Jedi battle with a pretend lightsaber

Let’s be honest – half the fun of the Stars Wars universe is in the high-octane drama, complete with mysterious, otherworldly gadgets and devices, none more so than the infamous lightsaber. And hey, who said a pretend Jedi duel couldn’t be the perfect form of outdoor exercise? If you’ve got fellow fans (or not) to quarantine with, a faux battle with dowels, plastic sticks, or whatever you’ve got lying around, could be just what you need to moving and feeling the Force. For now, you can save this one for the backyard rather than the park. And just for dramatic effect, why not get that infamous John Williams score on in the background? You know you want to.[video_embed id='1864300']RELATED: The internet can't get enough of this cat that looks like Baby Yoda[/video_embed]

3. Rewrite the saga the way you always wanted it

One of the few things that mark out this particular fandom is just how divided they are. Recall the backlash post The Rise of Skywalker? Or the split in opinion after Episode IV? An alternative ending to the Skywalker saga recently leaked online, with many wondering what might have been had JJ Abrams not been back at the helm. So however you felt about it, today might be your chance to conclude the series the way you always hoped it would. Fan fiction has surprisingly launched many a career, after all.

3. Go full on dress-up

Okay, okay, so this one may have to be reserved for the hardcore fans, but if you don’t want to wait until Halloween to get your Princess Leia, Han Solo, or Queen Amidala on (that lipstick, though), or even Chewy, today’s the perfect opportunity to recreate your favourite looks from a galaxy far, far away. We don’t know about you, but we think Rey’s outfits are pretty damn cool – no shame in popping on those threads, May the 4th or not.

4. Remind yourself you’re in good company

You may be hard pressed to get to your nearest fan convention right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t revisit memories of May the 4ths past. In fact, you’d be in good company. Here’s Reese Witherspoon looking pretty pleased with herself flanked by Stormtroopers back in 2015 (yes, even Reese is a fan):

Even Zoe Saldana couldn’t help but get in on the action, and given that she's part of the Star Trek universe, this is really saying something:

6. Relive your favourite interviews with the cast

Over the years, this franchise has enjoyed quite the starry cast – from launching then unknown stars Mark Hamill and the inimitable Carrie Fisher, alongside fledging star Harrison Ford, to giving a boost to the likes of Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor, and introducing the world to Daisy Ridley and John Boyega. In fact, it’s known for featuring pretty likeable ensemble casts, and this extends to off-screen. So why not enjoy some of their buzzy chemistry, and get nostalgic while you’re at it? Just check out this adorable interview from the original cast:
Or this latter day cuteness from Carrie, Daisy and John… it may be decades later, but the love is the same:
You’re right, Daisy, it is a lot of emotions.

7. Secretly creep on more hardcore fans

Let’s be honest – even if you’re not a hardcore fan who dresses up, goes to conventions, collects memorabilia, and kills it at trivia, a part of you still wants to see what those guys get up to... right? From the fan art, to the intense debate, and the passion, it's all pretty interesting to see, even if it is just to feel the relief that you have other hobbies. Well, #MayThe4thBeWithYou is trending hard right today on Twitter, and there’s all sorts of shenanigans being shared, so spy away, friends. So however you’re celebrating this May the 4th--we hope that the Force is strong.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Baby & daddy going a little crazy during quarantine[/video_embed]
