A new trailer dropped for mind-bending auteur Christopher Nolan’s highly-anticipated,
Inception-esque film,
Tenet, and audiences are finally getting a closer look at a handful of the cast’s big-name stars. Warner Bros. released the first trailer back in December, sharing a clip in which actor John David Washington (the charismatic lead in Spike Lee’s
BlacKkKlansman) appeared as the protagonist of the trippy film. This fresh clip introduces Washington’s costars, including
pasta innovator, Robert Pattinson, who looks quite dapper. The movie marks Pattinson’s first time working with Nolan, though the two have one major thing in common: Nolan directed Christian Bale as Batman in the
Dark Knight trilogy and Pattinson will star as the caped crusader in Matt Reeves’ reboot
The Batman, out October 2021.
In the new clip for
Tenet, we see the former
Twilight star at the wheel during an epic car chase (or un-chase, as the case may be since at the film’s core is the concept of undoing time, making it move backwards or inverting it) and watch him as he cajoles Washington’s character into working with him. From what we can tell, Pattinson’s as-yet-to-be-named character is an ideas man, trying to loop Washington in on his ambitious (bordering on unsafe) plans. A small thing called the fate of the entire world hangs in the balance. Think: World War 3, but worse. The new trailer also features longtime Nolan collaborator Michael Caine, as well as French actress Clémence Poésy, Kenneth Branagh and Elizabeth Debecki (
The Great Gatsby). And while the movie promises to break your brain, the trailer itself lays the ground work for the high concept to come.“This reversing the flow of time?” asks Washington’s character, “Doesn’t us being here now mean it never happened?”Whoa.
Tenet is scheduled to hit theatres on July 17, one of the few films still aiming for a
theatrical release amid the pandemic.[video_embed id='1958762']RELATED: Robert Pattinson refuses to work out constantly for Batman role[/video_embed]
