Gotham, we have our superhero back. The Batman has resumed production after star Robert Pattison, who is donning the black cape as the Dark Knight, tested positive for the novel coronavirus early in the month. This is the second time the production has been shut down; it, along with every other film production in London and Hollywood, came to a halt earlier this year as the COVID-19 global pandemic gripped the planet and forced us all into quarantine under stay-at-home orders.Although neither reps for Pattinson nor production company Warner Bros would confirm that it was in fact the Twilight hunk who contracted the virus, Variety confirmed an initial report by Vanity Fair that it was indeed the actor who fell ill.[video_embed id='2029010']RELATED: Robert Pattinson tests positive for COVID-19[/video_embed]Production on The Batman was halted on September 3rd, with cast and crew in close contact with Pattinson instructed to quarantine. The film also stars Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, Andy Serkis, John Turturro and Jeffrey Wright.  Variety reports that while some sets continued to undergo construction, cameras effectively went black. For his part, it seems Pattinson has not only recuperated, he’s built up quite an appetite, because he was spotted yesterday strolling London with his girlfriend Suki Waterhouse, and engaging in quite a bit of romantic PDA. They were snapped by the paps smooching and snogging on a London park bench after grabbing some take-out coffees. They live together so it is probably safe to assume that if he’s recovered, she’s probably in the clear too. This is not only the second shutdown of the film, but The Batman’s second positive coronavirus case. In April, 76-year-old Andrew Jack, who worked on the film as a dialect coach, contracted the virus and sadly passed. Director Matt Reeves tweeted at the time how “heartbroken” he and The Batman crew were to lose him.All of these delays and shutdowns have pushed the original release date of the film from June 2021 to October 2021.[video_embed id='-1']Before you go: This bulldog is ready to audition for a Batman role[/video_embed]
