American Sole with
Pete Davidson and O'Shea Jackson Jr. .Offset will play a computer engineer in the upcoming dramedy co-starring Davidson, Jackson Jr. and Camila Mendes. The movie will follow two twentysomethings (Jackson Jr. and Davidson) who enter the world of sneaker reselling in order to make some quick cash, pay off their college debt and make their dreams come true. Things take a turn when they run out of cash and find themselves working with a shady investor who becomes their only way out of a bad situation.Offset, whose real name is Kiari Cephus, made his acting debut in March when he appeared in an episode of
NCIS: Los Angeles where he played the role of an undercover CIA agent named Kadri Kashan Khan. He referenced the role when he announced his film debut, saying, "This is my first feature film as an actor. After doing
NCIS, I knew I wanted to do more acting."The "Ric Flair Drip" rapper said that landing the role in
American Sole "is dope," adding "Not only do I get to star in the movie, but I get to bring my skills to the table as the curator and executive producers for the soundtrack." The STXfilms dramedy was written by Ian Edelman, who will also direct the movie and Kevin Hart is set to produce
American Sole through his production company, HartBeat.Adam Fogelson, chairman of STXfilms Motion Picture Group said that having Offset join the team is "a dream scenario." He also revealed that Offset's character "is important to the storyline" and the team at STXfilms is extremely excited to be working with the rapper who will "help us define the sound of the film."In a preview clip for Offset's
NCIS episode, the rapper said that he didn't want to go into acting and "be put in this category of, 'Oh, you be the bad guy all the time." He said that he wanted to show the world that he can do anything that anyone sets in front of him.Challenge accepted, Offset.
