It’s hard to believe it’s been 16 years since Jennifer Garner enthusiastically leapt into fans’ hearts with her thirty and flirty and thriving ways on 13 Going on 30, but her co-star Mark Ruffalo isn’t letting anyone forget. The Avengers star celebrated the film’s anniversary on social media April 23, reminding thirsty viewers everywhere to add the flick to this weekend’s viewing lineup.“Happy Anniversary to 13 Going on 30 today! Remember what the world was like when Razzles were all the rage?” Ruffalo wrote, referencing the candy that transforms into gum. “Missing that time.” He isn’t the only one. Fans were quick to chime in with their own love of the movie, with one person even referencing one of the film’s memorable scenes. “I think everyone needs fresh air, a glass of water, and a fluffy pillow more than ever right now,” she wrote. For anyone who needs a refresher, the 2004 film was intended as a female twist on Tom Hanks’ Big. Garner starred as 13-year-old Jenna Rink, whose wish to suddenly be 30 was magically granted on her birthday. Except as she quickly learned, being an adult wasn’t as easy as she’d hoped. Mean girls still existed, she hadn’t turned into the nicest person, and her childhood bestie (Ruffalo) was no longer in her life. It was pretty big stuff for a 13-year-old-at-heart to digest, but then again, it was nothing a little “Thriller” dance-off and a yearbook-inspired magazine photoshoot couldn’t fix. Judy Greer, Andy Serkis, Brie Larson, Ashley Benson and Christa B. Allen also starred.“Fifteen years ago today 13 Going On 30 made her debut, directed with love by our beloved Gary Winick and a clutch of loving, hardcore producers (3 brilliant women—before it was cool to be led by women!),” Garner shared on Instagram last year. “The movie benefitted from the performances of so many young actresses. Open and twinkly-magical then—now, 15 years later, they are ruling the world.”Garner has also gone on to land some pretty impressive roles too, of course, including her recent dark comedy Camping on HBO. Meanwhile Ruffalo has since starred in a handful of award-nominated films and superhero tales alike. He’s also heading to HBO in May with the anticipated miniseries adaptation of Wally Lamb’s 1998 novel I Know This Much is True. Ruffalo stars in the dual role of twins Dominick and Thomas Birdsey: one suffers from PTSD while the other is a paranoid schizophrenic. According to the actor, it’s those kinds of meaty roles that makes him feel alive.“Life is short, and I think it’s important as someone who’s doing this kind of work to challenge yourself and break yourself up,” Ruffalo said earlier this year at the TCA Winter Press Tour in Pasadena while promoting the series. “I want to be the kind of artist who can’t be labelled; who surprises people and surprises myself and sometimes f--ks it up and sometimes makes it work, and then I want to talk about the things that I think are important or the things that strike my fancy.  So, yeah, I want to keep challenging myself so I’m not dead.”[video_embed id='1904096']RELATED: Why Ben Affleck regrets his divorce from Jennifer Garner[/video_embed]
